Fiqh of eid 4: Takbir تكبيرات العيد during the two ids

أكبر الله أكبر الله أكبر __ لا إله إلا الله __ الله أكبر الله أكبر ولله الحمد

Allahu Akbar_Allahu Akbar_Allahu Akbar_La'ilaha illah Allahu Akbar_Allahu Akbar_Allahu Akbar_walillahilhamd.

1) Takbir (saying Allah Akbar) is clearly a distinctive feature of Muslims celebrating id. It is based upon the ayah of the Quran "And that you must exclaim Allahs greatness for having guided you so that you may be grateful" [2:185]

2) Takbir starts from the time you leave the house based upon the hadith "The Prophet (peace be upon him) would leave his house on the day of fitr and say takbir until he reached the musalla" [Musanaf ibn shaybah]

3) The wording of Takbir are many but the a popular one is:

Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar La ilaha illa lah Allahu abar Allahu akbar wa lillahil-hamd

[Musnanaf ibn Shaybah 2:168- Isnad sahih by Sheikh Halabi]

4) Imam albani says "There is evidence that the takbir should be said allowed on route to the musalla.....saying the takbir in unionson is not permissible" [Al Sahiha 1:121]
